CNOOC: 3.1 Million Cubic Meters of Methane Recovered in Dongfang Terminal Annually

Until July 2010, the optimized decarbonization systems in Dongfang Terminal have been in operation for a year. According to statistics, the systems had recovered 3.1 million cubic meters of methane annually and gained a profit of RMB 4.36 million, while reducing greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.
When Dongfang 1-1 gas field was put into operation in August 2003, the natural gas failed to meet the requirements of users because of its high carbon dioxide content. Therefore two natural gas decarbonization systems were installed. The natural gas after treatment meets the users' requirements, and the decarbonization systems have been further improved to recover the methane in flash gas.
