Southern Gold: High Grade Extensions to Cannon Prospect – Bulong (WA)
Friday, 23 July 2010 05:42
Gold mineralisation continuous from surface to beyond 150m vertical depth
High grade gold mineralisation open to west and beyond current drilling
New broad gold intersections, bearing high grade shoots:
26m at 4.07 g/t gold, including 3m at 13.8 g/t
44m at 1.79 g/t gold, including 7m at 5.75 g/t
21m at 3.68 g/t gold, including 4 m at 13.2 g/t
32m at 2.14 g/t gold, including 3m at 6.98 g/t
Discovery of a new footwall zone of 17m at 4.21 g/t gold
Soil geochemistry indicates potential for further Cannon style gold targets in Bulong South Project.
The Directors of Southern Gold Limited (ASX: SAU) advise that results from the fourth Reverse Circulation (RC) drilling campaign at the Cannon Prospect in Western Australia confirm the Cannon Prospect as a new gold discovery from surface.
Assay results from the 20 RC holes (totalling 2420m) enhance the continuity of the extent and grade of multiple high grade gold shoots within the mineralised envelope.
Extensional drilling traverses between the Cannon gold in soil anomaly and the Cannon – George’s Reward lodes (Figure 3) have returned 26m @4.07 g/t gold from 82m, including 8m @7.04 g/t gold from 83 metres and 6m @6.39 g/t gold from 99m in BSRC108.
Approaching the Cannon – George’s Reward lodes (Figure 4) drilling returned 16m @3.24 g/t gold from 83 metres including 9m @5.33 g/t gold from 86 metres in BSRC103, and 32m @2.14 g/t gold from 128 metres including 11m @4.09 g/t gold from 140m in BSRC104 (see Table 1).
Southern Gold are continuing to work with Runge who are assessing our procedures and assisting with our drill planning.
The Cannon Prospect is the first of several gold occurrences in the central mining lease (M25/333) and the greater Bulong South Project to be drill tested in detail. Over the coming 12 months, Southern Gold will systematically drill test these soil anomalies and their associated geophysical features to build an inventory of closely located high quality gold prospects.
