  • Research and development capacities in Japan and India to be expanded
  • Localization is opening up additional opportunities for growth

The Schaeffler Group will invest around EUR 300 million in Asia during the next few years in order to systematically further develop its existing operations there.

Metso will supply a lime calcining system to OJSC Novolopetsk Steel’s (NLMK) steel plant in Russia. Equipment delivery will be completed during the fourth quarter of 2011 and the refractory materials during the first quarter of 2012. The value of the order is not disclosed. The order is included in Mining and Construction Technology’s Q2 orders received.

Aker Wirth tunnel boring machineAfter having completed the contract for an Aker Wirth tunnel boring machine of 8 m diameter in December 2009, and following an optimal workshop acceptance, the various individual parts of our latest tunnel boring machine left the plant in Erkelenz at the beginning of July. The components are now on their way to Switzerland where a tunnel is to be bored for the extension of a hydroelectric power plant.

Together with TÜV NORD Akademie the Center for Fire and Explosion Safety of DMT GmbH & Co. KG held the expert conference "Fire and Explosion Safety in Power Plants" on June 22 and 23, 2010. More than 80 participants took advantage of this two-day meeting of experts to gain an overview of the requirements, solutions and concepts in this complex of themes.

Under the heading "Experts in Dialogue" a forum was set up for planners, constructors and operators of power plants, personnel from professional, in-plant and auxiliary fire services, as well as for fire safety officers and personnel from the domains of maintenance and occupational safety. Acknowledged specialists exchanged worldwide experience and best- practice solutions with international experts and discussed problem-solving approaches.

  • Jindal Steel Power Ltd (JSPL) fully trusts in Hot DRI transport solution from Germany.
After successful installations in Korea, Saudi-Arabia and Australia, AUMUND have now received from MIDREX Technologies an order to deliver the hot DRI transport system for the direct reduction plant of Jindal Steel Power Ltd. in India. The AUMUND conveyor type BZB-H-I, developed for conveying hot direct reduced iron, is equipped with special buckets plus thermal insulation and inert gas system. The two conveyors to be installed at the Jindal Steel Plant with a centre distance of 150 m will be designed for 250 t/h capacity each.
